How to trigger an n8n workflow from a subreddit
n8n workflows that start from a Reddit .rss link stop firing on November 13, 2026. Point the trigger at a Redditrss feed and nothing else in the workflow has to change.
Set up the trigger
- Create the feed at Redditrss and copy the feed link.
- In your workflow, add the RSS Feed Trigger node as the first step.
- Paste the link into Feed URL.
- Under Poll Times, choose how often n8n checks. Every 30 minutes matches how often Redditrss refreshes, so a shorter interval gains you nothing.
- Run Execute step once to see the latest posts as items.
Fields you can use
Each new post arrives as one item. The fields you will use most are title, link, pubDate and contentSnippet. Map them into the next node, for example a Slack message that says "New post: {{ $json.title }} {{ $json.link }}".
Replacing an existing Reddit trigger
- Open the workflow that uses a Reddit
.rssURL. - Replace the Feed URL with the Redditrss link.
- Save and activate. n8n treats it as a new feed, so only posts published after the first poll trigger runs.
Alert on a topic, not just a subreddit
For brand or product monitoring, a Redditrss topic feed covers all of Reddit, and the AI filter removes posts that only share your keyword. That keeps a Slack alert channel readable. The $19 a month plan includes 10 topic feeds.
